Chapter 46
A Warning To Heed By
******

The gang flew through the portal to the new world and…

Stopped.

They didn't know how or when or how many people had stopped falling since they couldn't see, but due
to the lack of wind moving on their face; the realization set in.

In the middle of the pitch black vortex they were floating, being held up by some invisible force, and not
making it to the next world.

"HEY!" roared the familiar pipsqueak's voice, "WHY ARN'T I MOVING! DON'T LEAVE ME BEHIND, OR I'LL
TRANSMUTE YOU ALL INTO DUCKS!"

"Why can't I see anything yet?? We should have landed by now! HARUHIII!!" cried a Tamaki.

Everyone heard a thump-thump in the air as a disgruntled Dark spoke up, "Arg. And I can't fly anywhere;
up OR down, whichever way up or down IS…."

"OW! Who's slapping me?" an angry voice cried which everyone assumed to be Zero, "HEY! Don't poke
my eye!!"

"Oh, sorry. I was just feeling around for an exit, and you just got in the way. Do you mind moving aside?"
said a sarcastic voice, most likely Death Scythe.

"Everyone CALM DOWN!" yelled Vic. He wondered why he always chose to play such angst-y characters
with such a temper. It was very difficult to control all of them, and have all of them get along. Then
again, he'd never thought he'd be in a situation where he would have to do things like that. "Is everyone
here? Michelle??"

"I'm here! I think… Oh why can't we see anything??"

Then suddenly with a burst of rainbow color, the vortex became alive with light.

It was like looking at hundreds of TV screens pressed tightly together, making a circular room with no
floor or ceiling going as far up and down as the gang could see. The room was rotating slowly around
them, making each screen visible to each of the members. There was no sound, but the images
projected on the screens were enough.

Their worlds were dying.

On some of the screens, there were shots of Oceans being sucked in upon themselves as though there
was a black hole in the center of them; the water going to nowhere. In others, there were shots of
miscellaneous people running from some unknown source in the sky that was devouring everything. Bit
by bit buildings or trees were torn up by an invisible suction and as they rose they dissolved into
nothingness. Fights were breaking out among people of all genres: friends turning on friends, leaders
betraying civilians, all for the sake of survival. The fear in their eyes was heart-wrenchingly horrible.
They didn't know what was coming for them, or what would happen when it got to them. All they had to
go on was to run. Run, and don't look back.

The gang looked at the screens in horror, their eyes wide, and their fists clenched. Some were shaking,
although whether it was anger or fear was unknown.

Then the screens shifted, each showing something new. One by one, screens detached themselves and
floated slowly over to each individual until everyone had a screen to watch. On each person's screen,
was their own world taking its final breath.

Edward was looking at his with tears in his eyes, shaking the screen violently. On it, Winry and Al were
running on a stone path. Behind them the darkness was dissolving the land behind, and gaining quickly
on them.

On Tamaki's, half of the Host Club's room had been devoured and the remainder of the club had backed
into the final remaining corner; the only place left to stand. The floor around them dissolved quickly and
began to close in on them. As it got close to the Hitachin twins, Kaoru slipped and started to fall into the
darkness. Hikaru grabbed on to him and managed to pull him up, but only just before the darkness
would have had him. The Hosts looked on in horror as their world around them crumbled.

Farther away from Tamaki, Death Scythe was watching his screen mumbling, "Run Maka. Just keep
running. Hurry Maka hurry." Soul and Maka were sprinting down Death City's cobbled streets, hand in
hand; fearful of being separated from the other. Suddenly, they found themselves at a dead end in front
of a large building. They looked back and saw the street behind them give way to the nothingness and
dissolve. Then The building in front did the same, starting from the tallest tower down it turned into
particles of nothingness. The pair was left standing on a circular piece of land, about as big as a small
bedroom, and scared witless. Maka looked up a Soul and said something that Spirit couldn't hear. Soul
nodded and pulled Maka close to his chest in a tight embrace as the circle around them became smaller
and smaller.

This similar occurrence was happening with almost everyone in the vortex. They were all slowly
watching not only their world turn to nothing, but their friends facing their downfall.

The only two people without screens were Vic and Michelle. Perhaps this was because the people they
cared about the most was right there, or perhaps it was because Vic and Michelle already had ideas
about what the end of their world may look like.

Suddenly, the worst happened. Everyone watched in horror as each of their world were eaten entirely.

On Ed's screen, Al grabbed Winry with one arm and pulled her close. He looked up at the sky as though
he knew someone was watching, and then dissolved into nothingness.
"AL!" Edward screamed, "No…NO! Come Back! Come back!" He stared hitting the screen, "Don't do this!
After everything we worked for, everything we've done… You can't just DIE!"

Edwards screams were countered by Tamaki who was pleading with his screen. As he watched, the floor
of the Club room gave out and his family fell through into the blackness. One by one they turned into
particles; the twins holding each other, Mori was falling before Hunni to make sure he
wouldn't get hurt, Kyoya fell swiftly calmly but gave the darkness a death glare as he turned to dust.
Haruhi was the last to go. Her legs started to go first, and as she went farther down she looked up to the
sky and spoke. Tamaki watched in utter devastation as her lips read, "Help me Senpai," as she dissolved
and his world went black. He cried and screamed as a mother would when she lost a child. He wasn't
even able to make words. He just screamed and cried the sounds of pain and longing.

Spirit was a different matter altogether. He didn't make any noise; he'd even stopped muttering. He had
gone into a very deep shock. He had just watched his daughter's final moments. The circular area got
smaller and smaller until it was only enough for soul and Maka to stand on. Soul had brushed some hair
behind Maka's ear and the said something to her. Maka, head still buried in Soul's chest nodded as they
both fell and turned into nothing.

The whole vortex had erupted into a tunnel of scream and cries. Everyone was mourning for the loss of
their loved ones. Vic looked on crying himself. By voicing these people, he had become attached to each
one of them, thus being attached to their emotions. He could feel every single one of their hearts
shatter and crumble, and it hurt. He felt all of their loss and pain and understood why he didn't get a
screen. He didn't need it.

"THIS IS THE END OF ALL THE WORLDS," a voiced boomed over the chaos. The light in the vortex
vanished and the world went quiet.

Then, emitting a soft light in the middle of everyone, floated the PMoF. She had taken the form of a
younger girl, about twelve, wearing a white dress and a blue ribbon in her pink hair. She sat criss-cross-
applesause, arms folded across her chest. When she spoke her voice was soft and her volume had
lowered, as though she knew everyone listen and no one would dare to interrupt.

"The end is coming. You must understand that unless you work together, the things you have seen will
soon become a reality... If they haven't already."

Vic spoke up, "So everyone's world still exists?"

The PMoF looked at Vic, giving him a good look at her face. His heart broke once more as he saw there
were tear marks on it. This person, this TRICKSTER had dragged them into this and put them
through impossible tasks for her own pleasure… But she felt the pain too. The hurt from everything
coming to an end. It made him wonder what more this being had to surprise him with.

She smiled sadly, "Very few worlds still remain. There are a few left, three of which you still have to
complete a quest in, the final being in Mr. Mignogna's. The rest… I'm so sorry…" a tear fell slowly down
her check. She quickly brushed it off and resumed talking as though they were at a business meeting,
although it felt more like a funeral. "But do not lose hope. For if you finish, everything will go back to the
way it was and should be. The end of your worlds would never of happened. This is why you must finish.
But it is also why you must hurry. For if the rest of the quests are not finished by the time the darkness
reaches Vic Mignogna's world, all is lost. Forever and eternity."

Everyone looked in at her. All tears were gone and replaced with faces of determination. Vic looked at
Her with a grim face and held Michelle close, "What do we do?"

The PMof gave another little sad smile and said, "Journey on."

And with that, the vortex opened back up and sent them on to the next world, ready to complete the
quests with the hope of restoring their worlds.
First things first:

I'm so so so so soooooo sorry for making this so dark and depressing. I really am. I feel awful about it. :(

It's just, we're almost at the end of our story and a point needed to be made to the characters that this journey isn't game anymore. Their worlds are at risk and unless they finish in time, they won't over be able to go back. They needed a push, and I gave 'em one.

I know some of you are gonna be all on me about the whole dead character thing. Keep in mind, I've thought this through. They aren't dead, they've been "eaten". And they can be brought back! The PMoF said so herself! We just need to have a happy ending. And I'm pretty sure we will. I mean, it's US the RANGERS. We wouldn't let anything too bad happen to Vic, would we? :)

So anyways, Sorry this is kinda sad. I mean well by this I promise. >.<

I loved this! It was well placed, well timed, and well done drama--a good break from the silliness & insanity :)
